Erosion Control

In order to protect the project site and the surrounding areas, Nick Ruffin Excavating works diligently to provide the appropriate erosion control measures for each of its job sites. By doing so, we prevent potential damage from occurring to neighboring property, existing buildings/structures within the overall job site, or to any storm water drainage systems that might already in place.

We provide silt fence, curb inlet protection, slope stabilization, waddles, rip rap (erosion resistant rock), and much more. A job is only done right if everything that might be affected is protected properly.

Removing what is currently on-site is often a common need for new construction projects. Nick Ruffin Excavating can demolish and remove existing buildings, sheds, fences, concrete slabs, asphalt paving, sidewalks, entrances, etc. Our qualified equipment operators have the ability to demolish and load out the debris necessary to begin any new project.

We have five full-time dump truck drivers that keep the flow moving and the project on schedule. Getting everything off the site is priority if a project is to progress smoothly.

Earthwork

With over 30 years of experience moving dirt, Nick Ruffin Excavating prides itself in utilizing good time management methods between our extremely qualified equipment operators and our reliable dump truck drivers. By doing so, we are able to work consistently with very little down time and a very low employee turn-over rate, which ensures both our client's and our company's success.

Utilizing our full fleet of dozers, track hoes, rollers, water trucks, skid steers, and backhoes, our expert operators are able to use the most current GPS technology along with their years of experience so we can guarantee your site will be laid out and graded to engineering specs. The complete process includes removing topsoil, grading all areas to the proposed elevation, and compacting correct fill materials in layers.

Our dump truck drivers can bring in class 7, #57 stone, shale, sand, gravel, b-stone, or any other materials needed to correctly stabilize your site. Importing suitable fill material and/or exporting non-spec materials when cutting for your project is their job and they do it very well, safely, and efficiently.

Installation of geotextile fabric is a growing part of the excavation industry, so our teams are ready and able to add this to your project. Nick Ruffin Excavating goes the distance to make sure your site meets elevation and compaction standards before demobilizing from the work area.

Site Leveling and Grading

A primary portion of our company’s work revolves around site leveling and grading. A complete jobsite can not be flat or it will pond water. Grading the site to direct all storm water runoff to the appropriate location for complete drainage is a priority for all building projects, while having a perfectly flat building pad site is also required.

It is only through the skill of our equipment operators and the use of the most current GPS software installed on each piece of our equipment that we can guarantee our customers receive exactly what they need.

Storm Drainage

Proper drainage is a necessary part of your final project. By taking a broad approach to proper site drainage, our experienced crews prepare and install your systems to appropriate grades with high quality drainage materials. No matter if you need HDPE, RCP, PVC pipe or something custom, we can provide what you require with the submittals you require.

We build detention ponds and install headwall structures and flared end sections to accommodate each site’s drainage needs, including the installation of rip rap for erosion control over time. Our crews are also able to install curb inlets and junction boxes of all sizes and shapes to complete a functioning system with a pleasing aesthetic.
