Nick Ruffin Excavating, Inc. started in the late 80’s with one young man, Nick Ruffin, a single dump truck, and a plan. Married to his high school sweetheart, Kaylynn, and expecting a son, he knew his family’s future relied on his dedication to his family.

Over the next several years, Nick grew his knowledge and honed his skills in the excavating industry, and in 1992 Nick Ruffin Excavating officially opened. He was committed to putting in hard work and making it happen. He was also confident that Kaylynn, with her analytical skills for business and attention to details, could take care of the office while he took care of the work in the field.

Together, they had a vision to create a family-owned excavating company based on integrity and values reflecting their mentality that “an honest man’s word is his bond.”  Nick wanted to make his family proud, leaving a legacy for future generations, and he is certainly accomplishing that.

Nick truly desired to establish an enduring impact on the excavating industry through honor, hard work, ethics, practical actions, common sense wisdom, and positive influence. He wanted the company to have a reputation that would leave a mark on everyone around him in a way that would benefit others and make a significant contribution to every relationship and project he built. From day one, Nick Ruffin Excavating has been synonymous with these qualities and continues to actively uphold them as the company grows and expands.

The same work concepts that motivated Nick in the beginning are still the very foundation of every new relationship built and every project the company touches. Nick and Kaylynn believe it is of the utmost importance to have a strong commitment to both their clients and employees. Being honest, reliable, hardworking, building relationships through trust, and delivering on expectations and promises have always been the core foundation for Nick and his entire team as they have continually multiplied the company over the last 30 plus years.

Over the years, Nick Ruffin Excavating has become a multi-generational, family-owned company with his son, Cody Ruffin, working alongside him for the last 15 years. Cody, now a partner, is taking on a major leadership role which brings a new level of technology and vitality to the company as it continues to thrive and advance with the current market trends.

Nick and Cody are more committed than ever to maintaining integrity, high quality work, professional relationships, and timely project management and completion as they march into the opportunities that lie ahead. They are eager to partner with new and innovative contractors and companies as part of their new prospects and long-term goals.

In 2020, Nick Ruffin Excavating built a new complex in Southwest Little Rock, complete with an office building, a fully equipped maintenance shop, and a stock yard. This allowed the company the privilege of investing in both the City of Little Rock and Pulaski County. In addition, the company hired an on-site office manager and an engineer/project manager to better serve their clients and projects on a daily basis.

Since the SW Little Rock complex is centrally located in Arkansas, it allows them the benefit of quicker response times, local access to supplies/suppliers, a private stock yard, and a fully staffed mechanic department to keep all their equipment in peak operating condition. Nick Ruffin Excavating has proved its ability to continue growing to best serve their clients, crews in the fields, and project managers for each and every one of their projects.

Today, Nick Ruffin Excavating, Inc. continues to work on building our company reputation by increasing the knowledge of our existing staff, serving our clients personally and professionally, upgrading equipment and technology regularly, participating in industry organizations, and enhancing the surrounding communities one project at a time.
